Théros Ceramic Limited Edition
Théros Ceramic Edition is the outcome from the creative coming-together of designer Aristotelis Barakos and ceramicist Giannis Zois. It’s based on the concept of the Théros series of lighting objects designed by Aristotelis Barakos, which is inspired by his childhood summer holidays in Greece and expresses the relaxation and carefree mood of the season.
On the occasion of the exhibition “Keramiko Design” at Mon Coin Studio, ceramicist Giannis Zois has been commissioned to offer his own interpretation of the project, with the precision and creativity that characterize him, and to create ceramic bases for the lighting objects with materials and techniques he uses himself.
The result is three new lighting objects with ceramic bases in different sizes and proportions, that create one family. Their main features are their smooth forms and the choice of a stoneware clay in a deep red color, which gives their ceramic bodies the look of terracotta. As a material, terracotta is widely spread throughout Greece; in this case, it has been crafted in a distinctive way by Giannis Zois with deep grooves, which are accentuated by the partially glassified pigment.
As part of the Théros project, the new lighting objects express in a different yet exceptional way a sense of summer and childhood memories. At the same time, the essence of the project is highlighted, namely the creative dialogue between the worlds of design and local, highly skilled craftspeople and artists.
The Théros Ceramic Edition includes three sizes, in a limited edition of 12 each: Small (12x24cm / hat Ø 22cm), Medium (12x36cm / hat Ø 27cm) and Large (40x14cm / hat Ø 32cm).
