Aristotelis Barakos is an award-winning Product Designer, based in Athens, Greece. Driven by his deep desire to constantly learn new things, Aristotelis embraces new challenges and never ceases to explore the possibilities for new and innovative products.Combining observation, research and a hands - on creative process, he works closely with multidisciplinary teams, craftsmen and manufacturers, in order to create a broad spectrum of everyday products where thorough thought meets honest design.
Aristotelis was born in Munich, where he spent his early childhood in a highly creative environment. Growing up in a men’s tailoring family gave him from a very early age the ability to empirically understand the processes of high-quality craftsmanship.
Moving to Athens at the age of 10 brought forward [led him to reach for / provided the opportunity to tap into] his innate ability to assimilate different cultural elements and, [to this day,] his very own perspective never ceases to be [is always] influenced by very different cultures.
Midway through his Science studies at the National University of Athens, his aptitude in making things made [helped] him realise that his true vocation is design. Pursuing this new path, he first worked as a technician at a special constructions studio that took on projects for the film industry. This earned him valuable experience and skills in prototyping and creative problem solving.
His passion to envision and create, together with his curiosity to constantly learn about production techniques and experiment with materials, lead him to study Product Design.
Right after graduating, Aristotelis put his hands-on experimentation and understanding of how things are made to use, supported by a network of craftsmen and specialists.
By constantly embracing new challenges, he has created products for Greek and international companies and start-ups. His extensive experience in the technology sector, including six months in the heart of technology manufacturing in Shenzhen, China, makes him an invaluable partner especially to tech start-ups. Even when going international, Aristotelis never loses focus from his personal projects in his Studio in Athens.
The products he has designed range from decorative items and everyday objects to state-of-the-art technological devices and systems. In 2014, he was awarded as a Future Talent by the Italian design magazine OTTAGONO and since then his work has been recognised by International Awards.
